About
I'm Nathan Guevara, an IT Engineer and public interest technologist who believes expert help shouldn't be gatekept. My mission is making technology accessible to individuals and small businesses in our communities.
My Journey
I grew up in section 8 housing with my sisters, raised by a single mom. Repairing household items became my pathway into technology. When something broke, we had to figure out how to fix it ourselves—that's where I learned to solve problems with whatever tools were available.
After graduating, I started in tech support roles like Geek Squad, then moved into corporate IT support at Texas Instruments and Dropbox. I spent time as an IT Director at SAFE Alliance, a nonprofit supporting children and women who were victims of domestic violence, and worked as a support manager at Yeti before my current role at Built as an IT Engineer.
What Drives Me
Throughout my career, I constantly meet people who need assistance with technology, the web, AI, and more. I love engaging with these challenges to help them find solutions. I believe in putting your skills to work to help the community around you.
I believe more engineers, web developers, and technologists could benefit from volunteering their time or charging small fees to help people in their community with tech or web projects. Expert knowledge should be accessible, not locked away behind corporate walls.
What I Do
My expertise spans IT engineering, automation, and web development. I especially enjoy:
- Mentoring - Teaching others and sharing knowledge
- Problem Solving - Fixing complex technical issues
- Automation - Eliminating repetitive tasks
- Community Building - Connecting people with technology solutions
Outside of Work
When I'm not coding or helping with tech problems, you might find me:
- Doing stand-up comedy - I've performed shows in Austin and Chicago
- Roller skating - You'll catch me at the skate park
- Exploring national parks - I love getting out in nature
Let's Connect
Whether you're an individual with a tech question, a small business needing web help, or a fellow technologist interested in community work, I'd love to hear from you. Let's work together to make technology more accessible for everyone.
